unleash your skin's true beauty

We are all about formulating healthy, high-performing skin care for beautiful, radiant skin while protecting natural resources. That is why all our ingredients are vegan, non-GMO, cruelty-free, certified organic or wild-harvested, and sustainably sourced. No outsourcing. No artificial or cheap fillers. No synthetics, and nothing that does not nourish your skin

high performance, down to earth

Our certified organic products are packed to the brim with nutrients from botanical oils, extracts, and powders. Each ingredient is purposefully selected for its skin healing properties and carefully sourced. Only select biologically active plant compounds that target specific skin concerns make it into our products - and nothing else. This is how we make skincare that effectively repairs, balances, and rejuvenates the skin, all with the power of plants.

Certified organic & sustainable

We carefully curate only unprocessed organic ingredients from sustainable growers and suppliers. Some of our ingredients we even grow ourselves. This allows us not only absolute quality control, but also ensures freshness, purity, and sustainability of our botanical ingredients. And, it is extremely gratifying to see the lifecycle of a plant from seed to bottle.

Sustainability doesn't stop with our ingredients. We exclusively use recyclable glass bottles for all our products, with minimal plastic parts (caps and pumps). All our orders are packaged in recycled materials and shipping supplies are 100% plastic-free, from water-activated paper packaging tape to a biodegradable bubble wrap alternative.

banned ingredients

These are just some of the most common synthetic ingredients used by conventional brands that you will never find in any of our products.

Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) are both inexpensive and very effective foaming agents/surfactants found in many personal care products. They penetrate the skin quickly and are unable to be metabolized by the liver. Both are considered carcinogens and the biggest concern with SLES is contamination with 1,4-dioxane. They are believed to be endocrine (hormone) disruptors and are known skin, scalp and eye irritants.

Parabens are cheap and commonly used synthetic preservatives in the skin care industry. They are suspected to play a role in cancer and are linked to developmental defects, reproductive toxicity, and endocrine (hormone) disruption. A 2004 study in the Journal of Applied Toxicology discussed the estrogen-like properties of parabens and found that they were detected in breast cancer.

Phthalates are used to increase the longevity of skin care products. They are known hormone disruptors and suspected carcinogens. They are especially toxic to fetuses and can cause birth defects in male babies. They can interfere with fertility and have been linked to low sperm count. Although they have been banned from cosmetics in the European Union, they still remain prevalent in U.S. products.

Both are synthetic forms of vitamin A and can cause an array of health issues such as liver damage, brittle nails, hair loss, and osteoporosis. They can cause birth defect when used during pregnancy and are linked to an increased risk of cancer.

Formaldehyde is used as a preservative for cosmetic products. It is classified as a known carcinogen and can cause skin allergies and irritation. Other health issues caused by this chemical are immune system toxicity, liver problems, dermatitis, joint pains, and headaches.

PEGs (polyethylene glycols) are petroleum-based compounds that are widely used in cosmetics as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture-carriers. The main concern is contamination with measurable amounts of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, both known human carcinogens.

Because fragrance is considered a “trade secret” and companies don’t have to list the ingredients, it is often a hidden source of chemicals like phthalates. Fragrance can hide up to 100 different chemicals. Some fragrance ingredients are known neurotoxins, and many can irritate skin. Some also make asthma worse.

Mineral oil

Mineral oil is a petroleum ingredient. It coats the skin like plastic wrap and therefore inhibits its ability to breathe and absorb natural moisture and nutrition. It can promote acne and may lead to premature aging.

Phenoxyethanol is a very common broad spectrum preservative favored in natural and organic skincare. It has been shown to cause both reproductive and developmental toxicity.

Silicones, with dimethicone as one of the most commonly used, are antifoaming and skin-conditioning agents. They smooth and soften skin by forming a thin film on the skin and filling in pores, inhibiting the skin's ability to breath and absorb nutrients and moisture naturally.
